MX-949A/U Tube Socket Adapter Kit for the I-177

This is a "breakout' box that adds additional tube sockets to the I-177 tester. These can be a bit hard to find, but I stumbled across this one online and bought it before it could get away. It's dated 1953 and is in good condition except for the ceramic tube socket.

The original paint only has a few minor dings and chips, not enough to justify repainting it. All it really needed was a good cleaning.

It's just what I need for the I-177 although there are still some newer tubes that can't or shouldn't be tested on the combo because of the 5-volt grid signal used by the I-177.

There's no electronics inside this unit, just wiring from the tube sockets and octal adapter cable going to the numbered pins and jacks of the front panel.

The ceramic tube socket was cracked, which seems to be a common malady with these units, probably from over-tightening the mounting screws. I epoxied it back together and filled the cracks with a porcelain filler for appliances.
